SCRANTON, Pa., Oct. 29, 2024 ~ Scranton, Pennsylvania - On October 29th, Johnsonville, the leading national sausage brand, joined forces with actor Brian Baumgartner from "The Office" to provide free sausage and support to the overburdened residents of Scranton. This event was part of Johnsonville's Swing State Sausage Support Plan, aimed at showing solidarity with communities that have been inundated with political ads during this election season.

With major campaigns spending a staggering $81 million on ads in Scranton alone, swing states like Pennsylvania are bearing the brunt of the intense media blitz. The free sausage event, held in the Lackawanna County Courthouse Square, was a gesture of support from one politically overserved electorate to another. Johnsonville, based in Wisconsin - also a hotly contested swing state with high political ad spending - wanted to show their understanding and empathy for the residents of Scranton.

According to recent data from Johnsonville's National Temperature Check survey conducted by The Harris Poll in August 2024, most Americans (72%) are tired of political advertising and dread this election season (59%). In fact, many have resorted to blocking political campaign text messages (51%). Jamie Schmelzer, Senior Director of Marketing at Johnsonville, stated that they "know how it feels" to be bombarded with political ads in their home state and wanted to do something to make the people of Scranton smile.

The event featured slogans such as "Thank Sausage It's Almost Over" and "Sausage Stands with Scranton," as well as free sausage for hundreds of residents. Baumgartner himself manned the grill and posed for photos while seeking out residents' fresh takes on the barrage of political ads they have endured. This collaboration between Johnsonville and Baumgartner marks their second partnership after launching the #KeepTheInternetJuicy initiative earlier this summer.

Baumgartner expressed his shock at the amount of money being spent on political ads in Scranton and stated that "doing something unexpected for my favorite adopted city was an easy yes." He also emphasized the importance of bringing people together and having a little fun amidst the current contentious political environment.

This event aligns with Johnsonville's recent "Keep It Juicy" campaign, which encourages people to turn down the temperature, take a break, and spend quality time with others. Their latest commercial, "Town Hall," highlights the power of community in today's divisive political climate.

To join the conversation and spread positivity, Johnsonville encourages people to follow them on Instagram (@Johnsonville) and use the hashtag #KeepItJuicy. The company's National Temperature Check survey was conducted online among 2,092 U.S. adults and found that their sample data is accurate to within ±2.5 percentage points using a 95% confidence level.

In conclusion, Johnsonville's free sausage event in Scranton served as a reminder to take a break from politics and enjoy some quality time with others. By showing solidarity with the residents of Scranton, Johnsonville hopes to spread positivity and encourage people to keep it juicy during this intense election season.
