PHILADELPHIA - PennZone -- Feldman Shepherd is proud to announce that it has been honored with a Champion of Justice Award by Community Legal Services of Philadelphia (CLS).

The award is in recognition of the firm's dedication to CLS, which provides free civil legal assistance to low-income Philadelphians who otherwise could not afford vital legal counsel, as well as to the firm's broader commitment to legal aid. It was presented at CLS's 36th Annual Breakfast of Champions on May 28, 2025.

Speaking at the awards ceremony, Feldman Shepherd Co-Managing Partner Alan M. Feldman acknowledged the lawyers, paralegals and staff at CLS as the "real champions" in achieving justice for economically disadvantaged Philadelphians and spoke to the obligations of all lawyers to give back through financial support, volunteerism on boards and committees of legal services agencies, and pro bono service.

"My friends, we are thrilled and proud to receive this award, but really anyone who is privileged to practice law in this great City has a responsibility — an obligation — to give back," said Feldman.

He cited the work of Feldman Shepherd Co-Managing Partner Mark W. Tanner as representative of the volunteerism of many of the firm's attorneys. For more than a decade, Tanner has served as a volunteer attorney for the Support Center for Child Advocates and has, among other accomplishments, helped bring about successful adoptions of formerly neglected children or when circumstances permit, the safe reunification of children with parents.

Feldman is a past individual recipient of CLS's Equal Justice and Champion of Justice Awards and previously served as a CLS Board member. He continues to support CLS as a member of the Leadership Council. Currently, trial attorney George A. Donnelly represents the firm on CLS's Board.
