Malynda Hale to Lead National Nonprofit Advocating for Inclusive Faith

PHILADELPHIA - PennZone -- The New Evangelicals (TNE), a nonprofit committed to dismantling Christian nationalism and advancing a justice-centered expression of faith, is proud to announce a major leadership transition.

Award-winning activist and progressive Christian leader Malynda Hale has been named Executive Director, effective July 1, 2025. Founder Tim Whitaker will now serve as Creative Director and Lead Content Creator. In addition, the organization welcomes five new members to its Board of Directors, with Rebecca Thomas stepping into the role of Board President.

"I've long admired the work of TNE," said Hale. "I'm excited to step into this role and help lead the organization through this next chapter. The work we're doing—fighting injustice and creating inclusive spaces for people of faith—is more important than ever."

Whitaker, who launched The New Evangelicals in 2020, added, "Malynda has been instrumental in shaping TNE's direction. She brings vision, courage, and clarity—and I'm excited to continue working alongside her as we grow."
