PHILADELPHIA, July 29, 2025 ~ Medical Guardian and Mom's Meals Partner to Provide Targeted Recovery Support for Aging Adults
Medical Guardian, a leading provider of medical alert technology and remote monitoring, has announced a new partnership with Mom's Meals, a comprehensive food as medicine solutions provider. This collaboration aims to bring targeted recovery support to aging adults who have recently been discharged from the hospital.
Under this new benefit, Medical Guardian will cover the cost of Mom's Meals for its private-pay members who are recovering at home after being hospitalized due to an emergency dispatch through their medical alert device. These meals are specially designed by registered dietitians and professional chefs to meet various dietary needs such as diabetes, heart disease, renal conditions, and gluten intolerance. They are also conveniently packaged for storage in the refrigerator for up to 14 days and can be easily heated and enjoyed in minutes, promoting independence and dignity during the recovery process.
Geoff Gross, Founder and CEO of Medical Guardian, emphasized the importance of post-hospitalization support in preventing readmissions. "The support someone receives after they leave the hospital often determines whether they return in the days that follow," he said. "That's why this benefit is so meaningful. We're not just responding to emergencies—we're helping members stay independent and recover with strength and dignity by removing one of the largest barriers to healing: access to nutritious food at home when they need it most."

Hospital readmissions continue to be a major challenge for healthcare systems, especially among older adults. Malnutrition is a significant contributing factor as patients who are malnourished during their hospital stay are 54% more likely to be readmitted within 30 days [AHRQ/MQii]. Despite its impact, up to half of hospitalized patients are at risk for malnutrition, which often goes unnoticed and untreated [JAMDA].
As part of Medical Guardian's commitment to holistic care for its members, the company's Wellness Team checks in on them after a hospital stay. For eligible members, the team will assist in redeeming the covered meal benefit and guide them through the process of selecting their meals and scheduling delivery either online or by phone. This proactive support helps reduce friction during a vulnerable time, ensuring that members can access the care and nourishment they need to recover.
This partnership reflects a growing understanding that recovery does not end when a hospital stay does—it continues at home, where the right support can make all the difference. By combining responsive emergency technology with personalized nutrition from Mom's Meals, Medical Guardian is bridging the gap from crisis response to proactive recovery. This partnership is redefining what it means to support aging adults, one meal and one member at a time.
