LANSING, Mich., Aug. 22, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- The law firm of Edelson Lechtzin LLP, based in suburban Philadelphia, is investigating data privacy claims regarding an incident at Aspire Rural Health System ("Aspire"). Aspire learned of a data breach on or about February 13, 2025.

About Aspire Rural Health System

Founded in 2024, Aspire Rural Health System is a nonprofit organization serving Michigan's Thumb region. It offers coordinated care through hospitals, clinics, and provider networks across Huron, Sanilac, Tuscola, and Lapeer counties.

What happened?

Between November 4, 2024, and January 6, 2025, Aspire suffered a data breach affecting more than 138,386 patients and staff members across its network. On February 13, 2025, the BianLian group, a cybercriminal organization, claimed responsibility for the breach.

An investigation revealed that personal data may have been compromised, including names, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, financial account and routing numbers, medical treatment and diagnosis details, prescription data, health insurance information, payment card and PIN numbers, expiration dates, lab results, provider details, driver's license numbers, passwords and usernames, biometric identifiers, patient IDs, medical record numbers, and passport numbers.

How can I protect my personal data?

If you receive a data breach notification concerning Aspire, you should take steps to protect yourself against identity theft and fraud by regularly reviewing your account statements and monitoring your credit reports for any suspicious or unauthorized activity.

Edelson Lechtzin LLP is investigating a class action lawsuit to seek legal remedies for individuals whose sensitive personal data may have been compromised by the Aspire data breach.
