PITTSBURGH - PennZone -- Pollock Begg's Joseph R. Williams offered insight into the importance of selecting the right family law attorney and lessons from his rise from law school to partner by age 30 in iHeartRadio's "CEOs You Should Know" podcast.

The weekly podcast highlights influential leaders from the local businesses driving the region's economy.

During the wide-ranging interview, Williams touched on the importance of finding the right family law attorney to help navigate the complex divorce process, which can involve everything from custody agreements to property division.

"Choosing a family law attorney is one of the most intimate decisions that people will make in their lives," Williams told host Jonny Hartwell. "You want to make sure you get somebody who's specialized and who's qualified, but above that … you want to find somebody that's the fit for you," he said.

"We really just have a variety of people that we can apply to help different clients who have different needs in different circumstances," he said.

A skilled litigator, who is also certified in collaborative law, Williams has devoted his legal career solely to helping families. He was promoted to partner at Pollock Begg in 2015 and his accolades include the recent distinction of 2026 Pittsburgh "Lawyer of the Year" for Family Law by The Best Lawyers in America.

Williams has also dedicated time in numerous committees and leadership roles within the Pennsylvania and the Allegheny County Bar associations, most notably serving as ACBA president from 2021-22.

Williams told Hartwell he continues to feel passionate about his work and the clients he serves.

"I get to walk into a room, and I get to stand up and say, 'My name is Joseph R. Williams, and I'm here to represent ….' There is no greater honor when you think about that," he said.

"That somebody entrusts me to go in front of a judge to talk about — whether it's their kids, whether it's their life savings, whatever it might be — one of the most important things to them. That is an honor and a privilege."
