LANCASTER, Pa. - PennZone -- Nola Blue Records proudly announces Jumpin' Rockin' Rhythm, the forthcoming autobiography of Duke Robillard, written with acclaimed music writer Bill Dahl.

A widely respected guitarist, singer, songwriter, and bandleader with a career spanning more than five decades, Robillard has released numerous solo albums, collaborated with iconic artists, and earned multiple awards. A co-founder of Roomful of Blues, he also succeeded Jimmie Vaughan as a member of the Fabulous Thunderbirds. On his latest album and Nola Blue Records debut, Blast Off!, Robillard assembled a diverse yet traditional collection showcasing the blues, swing, jazz, and R&B styles that have defined his career. In Jumpin' Rockin' Rhythm, he shares his life story, chronicling his youth, musical beginnings, and lifelong dedication to studying, performing, and preserving America's rich roots music traditions.

Lifelong Chicagoan Bill Dahl began his professional writing career in 1977. A freelancer for many publications, Dahl is the author of The Art of the Blues (University of Chicago Press, 2016) and Motown: The Golden Years (Krause Publications, 2001). A 1998 GRAMMY nominee for his work as one of the liner notes writers for Ray Charles Genius & Soul: The 50th Anniversary Collection (Rhino, 1997), writing liner notes for CD reissues, predominantly covering American roots music of the 1950s, '60s, and '70s, is his forte. Dahl produced and compiled the Blues Music Award-winning Plug It In! Turn It Up! Electric Blues 1939-2005—The Definitive Collection! (Bear Family, 2013), and received a Keeping the Blues Alive Award from The Blues Foundation in 2000.

"I've been extremely impressed by Duke's incredible knowledge of vintage guitars—they're truly a passion for him—and his enduring love for the jumping rhythm and blues and swinging jazz that originally inspired him to form Roomful of Blues and then do his own thing for so long after that," shares Bill Dahl. "He strives to get everything right for the book's narrative, going so far as to contact former band members to track down and corroborate facts and dates. Seldom have I encountered a musician so dedicated to his craft."

"I eagerly anticipate each new installment of Duke and Bill's work. Every chapter has educated, fascinated, and entertained me, and I can't wait to read the next," says Sallie Bengtson, President of Nola Blue, Inc. "It's truly an honor to be part of the team documenting the life and legacy of such a significant figure in American Roots Music history. We look forward to sharing Duke's remarkable story."

"I decided at six years old that guitar and music would be my life," reflects Robillard. I've never regretted it and I've had the opportunity to play with and produce many of my heroes along the way. Now, 71 years later, it's still exciting to reminisce as I work on my book."

Jumpin' Rockin' Rhythm will be released in 2027, with additional publication details forthcoming. For more about Duke Robillard, including his latest album Blast Off!, visit dukerobillard.com
