HORSHAM, Pa. - PennZone -- CFSRE's Forensic Science Mentoring Institute Offers Life-Changing Summer Experience—Free for High School Students
Horsham, PA – [7/22/2025] – The Center for Forensic Science Research & Education (CFSRE) is proud to announce the continued success of its Forensic Science Mentoring Institute (FMI)—a free, seven-week summer program that introduces high school students to the world of forensic science through hands-on laboratory experience.
FMI is designed to serve underrepresented high school students from across the Greater Philadelphia area. During the program, participants work directly with practicing forensic scientists and gain experience in biology, chemistry, and toxicology by analyzing mock crime scene evidence. Students rotate through forensic disciplines, learn professional techniques and instrumentation, and ultimately present their findings as expert witnesses during a final mock trial.
To ensure equitable access, the program is completely free of charge. Scholarships for transportation and meals are provided thanks to the generous support of the Fredric Rieders Family Foundation, NMS Labs, Fulton Bank, and Hatboro Federal Savings.
