New name supports a vision for partnerships across healthcare while keeping primary care at the foundation

PITTSBURGH - PennZone -- Ten Ten Ten, a nonprofit dedicated to improving U.S. health outcomes while reducing healthcare costs, today announced Alento as the name of its new primary care initiative. Alento will help independent primary care practices thrive by supporting their transition to value-based care and reducing unnecessary costs and financial extraction.

The name was selected following voting and feedback from Ten Ten Ten advisors, supporters, and friends. Following a close vote between Alento and Primary Lift, the team chose based on the initiative's long-term direction.

"Primary care is our starting point and remains our foundation," said Jenn Block, Cofounder, Chief Architect, Value-Based Care. "Helping practices succeed also means building partnerships with others who deliver care. We chose Alento because it gives us room to grow while keeping our commitment to independent primary care central to the work."

Better outcomes and lower costs require cooperation across the health system. Bundled payments depend on providers sharing goals and working together to deliver coordinated care at lower cost.

As the initiative develops, its work could extend to specialists, health systems, pharmacies using cost-plus pricing, skilled nursing facilities, and home care providers. Across these settings, the principle remains: support the people and organizations delivering care while reducing unnecessary intermediaries and costs.

Alento reflects breath, encouragement, and courage, qualities the team hopes to bring to those caring for patients.

Ten Ten Ten has already developed a value-based care playbook, a readiness assessment, and implementation guides to support primary care practices. These resources provide a foundation for Alento's work and are available at https://tententen.org/our-work/value-based-care/.

"We're grateful to everyone who helped us choose the name," Bhargav Raman, MD, Cofounder, Clinical Strategy and Analytics. "Their feedback reinforced what matters most: helping primary care practices thrive and giving them the support to deliver better care."
