PITTSBURGH - PennZone -- Capping a 50-year legal career focused on family law, Pollock Begg Founding Partner David S. Pollock will retire effective December 31, 2024.
Widely recognized as one of Pittsburgh's most distinguished lawyers, Pollock was called to assist families through times of transition while working to improve our legal institutions and processes.
"Inspired by my parents' careers in medicine and social work, I always wanted my work to make a difference in people's lives," Pollock said. "Having the opportunity to use my talents to guide individuals and families through seasons of profound change toward a more positive future has been one of the greatest joys of my life."
From his time as a student at Duquesne University School of Law through five decades of legal practice, Pollock earned a reputation for his successes in the courtroom and his commitment to legal leadership and service.
In 2001, when two of the biggest law firms in Pittsburgh had eliminated their matrimonial law departments, Pollock partnered with attorneys Todd M. Begg, Daniel H. Glasser and Candice L. Komar to form a niche firm dedicated solely to family law. Launching with just two associates, the firm grew over 24 years to 16 attorneys, becoming the largest family law firm in western Pennsylvania.

"Pollock Begg truly has grown into the family law powerhouse we envisioned," said Partner Todd M. Begg. "David has been an agent of change, furthering the practice of family law not only in Pennsylvania, but nationally, and it's gratifying to see our partners and associates continue in his example of legal leadership."
Pollock served as chair of the family law sections of both the Allegheny County and Pennsylvania bar associations. He was honored with the PBA Family Law Section's Eric Turner Memorial Award and numerous PBA Special Achievement Awards and served as editor in chief of Pennsylvania Family Lawyer for nearly a quarter century. He has been actively involved in both the International Academy of Family Lawyers and American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers and was treasurer of AAML's Pennsylvania chapter for more than a decade.
Most recently, Pollock completed a two-year term as chair of the Pennsylvania Supreme Court Domestic Relations Procedural Rules Committee. At the conclusion of his six-year service to the Court, he was appointed by the Court as a continuing advisor to the committee for "ongoing essential projects."
