Online legal service provider Divorce-Online is celebrating its 25th anniversary on 5th April, marking a quarter century of innovation in the delivery of uncontested divorce and financial settlement services across England and Wales.

SWINDON, U.K. - PennZone -- Founded in 1999, Divorce-Online was the first UK platform to offer online divorce services, long before legal tech became an established term. Over the past 25 years, the business has helped more than 200,000 individuals complete their divorce or secure financial orders — and has grown to a consolidated £2 million + turnover in 2024.

The business now operates a hybrid model, offering both non-reserved legal services and solicitor-led reserved work through its sister firm, OLS Solicitors, acquired in 2017.

A Track Record of Sector Innovation

Divorce-Online's innovations include:
  • Development of an in-house client platform, DivorceTrack, which provides full visibility across the divorce and consent order process.
  • Early adoption of digital processes, including a 2010 pilot with HMCTS to digitally deliver consent orders — predating today's Family Court digital portals.
  • Fixed-fee pricing for legal document preparation, with enhanced options for solicitor drafting and court filing.
  • AI Family Law Chatbot  Alex launched in 2023

The company is now investing in AI-powered workflows to assist clients in generating initial drafts, responding to court queries, and receiving updates in real time — without the need for costly hourly fees.

"Clients want clarity, speed, and certainty," said Mark Keenan, Managing Director of Divorce-Online. "Fixed-fee legal services that use technology intelligently are no longer the exception — they're the future."

Legal Leadership Perspective

Lara Jayne Davies
, Head of Legal at OLS Solicitors, commented:

"We're seeing more clients than ever come to us with the intention of staying out of court. The demand for solicitor-drafted, fixed-fee consent orders has increased significantly — and rightly so. The legal framework allows for efficient agreement where parties are amicable. Our job is to ensure those agreements are legally sound and future-proof. That's where the combination of automation and legal expertise really shines."

Ms Davies is a qualified solicitor and experienced family law practitioner, leading the legal team at OLS Solicitors, which specialises in consent orders, financial settlements, and prenuptial agreements. She regularly advises on complex settlements involving pensions, property, and child arrangements.

Serving the Public and the Profession

In recent years, Divorce-Online has also provided white-labelled tools and referral services for family law professionals seeking to outsource basic drafting or streamline client engagement for uncontested matters.

The firm continues to serve a large proportion of couples applying for no-fault divorce and seeking clean break consent orders — an area that remains misunderstood or underutilised by the public.

About Divorce-Online

Divorce-Online was founded in 1999 as the first online divorce provider in the UK. Based in Swindon, the company has grown into a national provider of fixed-fee divorce and financial settlement services. It works in partnership with its SRA-regulated sister firm, OLS Solicitors, to deliver both non-reserved and reserved family law services to consumers.
