LANCASTER, Pa. - PennZone -- MoMojo Records announces the digital release of "Just Let Me Lay Down," by D.C. & Co. Lancaster, Pennsylvania's homeless population is given a voice with this new song and a face with the companion video. Both the song and the video are part of a new campaign to change the way the ever-growing homeless population is viewed and treated, all while showing the difference in these human beings when they are included as productive members of their community. The song was written by Dave Costarella and co-produced with international award-winning producer/engineer/musician Bobby Gentilo at Right Coast Recording in Columbia, PA.
D.C. (Dave Costarella) has been juggling multiple careers for decades: roofer/carpenter, songwriter (with four albums released to date) and bandleader of the horn-powered Blues/Rock band D.C. & Co. for 30 years and counting. Since 2017, D.C. has also been taking care of the individuals that sleep on Lancaster, Pennsylvania's streets in the deep cold of winter with his initiative,"My People On The Streets." After several years of advocating for the local homeless and unsuccessfully trying to implement changes from the local government and homeless coalition, in April of 2023 D.C. started a new initiative called "My People Clean Up," which soon became "Hand Up Partners." The program collects donations and passes them to members of the homeless community who, in exchange, clean up city parks, community areas and whole neighborhoods for a $20 a day stipend.

"When D.C. shared his new video and asked for help to 'put wind under its wings,' I was inspired not only by the sheer impact of the video, but also the timing of his request," says Sallie Bengtson, MoMojo Records president. "We were rebranding our logo to incorporate a modified version of the 'Anahata' - the symbol for the heart chakra - which represents the 'building of meaningful trusting relationships with others.' I can't think of a better project which truly exemplifies our mission, and it is happening right in our home city."
"The program's success in restoring self-dignity and purpose in the homeless workers, maintaining clean community areas, and bringing the housed and non-housed together as one community has been extremely rewarding for all," observes Costarella. "Homelessness is a global problem and inclusiveness is a global solution."
