WAYNE, Pa. - PennZone -- The best time to make decisions about aging is before an emergency makes them for you.

On Saturday, November 7, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., longtime Philadelphia-area real estate professional Brett Furman will host the 24th installment of his complimentary ABC's of Senior Housing webinar series. The program, "Planning Ahead for Aging: The Decisions Every Family Should Make Before a Crisis," will feature Jill and Steve Marshall, Certified Senior Advisors and founders of Silver Path Consulting.

The free Zoom webinar is designed for older adults, adult children, caregivers and families who want to better prepare for the decisions that often come with aging. Rather than focusing only on where someone may live, the conversation will address the bigger picture, including housing and care needs, important documents, legal and financial protections, family communication, quality of life and legacy planning.

"Families often wait until something happens before having these conversations," said Furman. "My goal with this webinar is to help people start thinking about these decisions while they still have time, choices and the ability to make a thoughtful plan together."

Jill and Steve Marshall bring both professional expertise and personal experience to the discussion. They founded Silver Path Consulting after nearly a decade of managing their own parents' affairs and seeing firsthand how difficult it can be for families to find independent guidance. Jill spent her career in financial services and chairs the Pennsylvania CSA Leaders Network. Steve is an attorney and licensed real estate broker.

During the webinar, Furman and the Marshalls will discuss questions many families eventually face: Is staying in the current home still the best choice? How does aging in place compare with moving to a senior living community? What should families organize now? How should parents and adult children approach difficult conversations? And what legal, financial and care-related decisions should be addressed before an emergency?

Silver Path approaches aging planning across six interconnected areas: housing and living transitions, health and care, organization of essential information, legal and financial protection, quality of life, and life and legacy. Their work helps families understand their options, establish priorities and develop a practical roadmap for what comes next.

The presentation will also address common warning signs families sometimes overlook, including unpaid bills, falls or close calls, missed medications, driving issues, social withdrawal and other changes that may signal it is time to begin a larger conversation. The Silver Path presentation emphasizes that planning ahead can give families more choice, more time, fewer financial surprises and greater peace of mind.
