Created by Chris Hackett and Michael Finney, the series uses the backdrop of the Freedom Train to explore what America's mythology conceals during this great national moment.

PHILADELPHIA - PennZone -- Bicentennial Occult Outing, an alternative history video series set during the United States Bicentennial of 1976, debuts its teaser trailer today, alongside the launch of an affiliated merchandise line on Amazon. The series is created by Chris Hackett and Michael Finney.

Set fifty years before America's Semiquincentennial, the series uses the backdrop of the Freedom Train — the train that toured the country in 1976 carrying artifacts of Americana — to look at what lies beneath the nation's Bicentennial's surface of flags and parades.

"The Semiquincentennial is the perfect time to look back at the last time we rallied around Americana. BOO! is a chance to have a close look at the narrative threads that reach across time here in the United States and hopefully exorcise some of the untended demons," said Finney.

The series makes use of AI tools to help build out its vision of 1976 Americana and folklore.

"Bicentennial Occult Outing is a meditation on our present day where anything is possible, yet much is still left to the imagination, using the backdrop of the Freedom Train to highlight that the American dream is fraught with perils about what lurks between the layers of our everyday life. We're using AI to bring this to life and iterate on North American mythological folklore in a way that investigates what these stories represent," said Hackett.
