Pastor, educator, social worker, and advocate enters the race for State House with a people-centered vision rooted in economic opportunity, public health, and social justice.

PHILADELPHIA - PennZone -- PHILADELPHIA, PA — A new voice of leadership is rising in Philadelphia's 200th Legislative District, and her name is Dr. Deshawnda Williams.

Pastor, clinical social worker, educator, author, and community advocate, Dr. Williams is bringing a deeply rooted commitment to service into her campaign for the State House seat. Backed by an endorsement from AFSCME District Council 33 and fueled by decades of experience uplifting individuals and families, she is presenting a vision grounded in economic advancement, public health, and social justice.

For Dr. Williams, leadership is not about politics as usual — it is about ensuring systems work for people. Her platform focuses on affordable housing, quality education, mental health access, public safety, living wages, and support for small business growth. Her message is clear: resources must not only be promised — they must reach the people they are intended to serve.

Her academic journey mirrors her commitment to service — holding degrees from Wheaton College, Tulane University, Arcadia University, and Palmer Theological Seminary, while currently pursuing a PhD in Social Work at Walden University.

Dr. Williams represents more than a candidacy — she represents possibility. She stands at the intersection of faith, scholarship, service, and grassroots action, offering the 200th District a leadership model centered on dignity, empowerment, and real impact.
