PHILADELPHIA - PennZone -- Feldman Shepherd is pleased to announce that attorney Reginald L. Streater was honored with a Drum Major Award by the Philadelphia Martin Luther King, Jr. Association for Nonviolence on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, January 20, 2025.

The Drum Major Award honors individuals and organizations whose deeds are exemplary of the ideals fostered by Dr. King. In addition to his legal practice, Streater serves as president of the Philadelphia Board of Education, where he oversees approximately 200,000 students, 20,000 employees, a significant portfolio of school district properties, and a budget of $4.5 billion. Streater received the Drum Major Award for Equity in the Educational System.

Founded in 1983, the Philadelphia Martin Luther King, Jr. Association for Nonviolence operates with a mission to preserve and advance the work of Dr. King through educating, interpreting, advocating and promoting nonviolent theory and philosophy.

Also, on MLK Day, Streater presented the Martin Luther King, Jr. Outstanding Organization Award to the Center for Black Educator Development on behalf of the Barristers' Association of Philadelphia at the Annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial Breakfast. The association helps address the professional needs and development of Black lawyers in the City of Philadelphia and surrounding areas through programs, seminars, cultural events and publications.

"I am truly blessed and honored to bring my skills as an attorney, honed in service to our clients, to benefit the more than 200,000 students in Philadelphia's public education system. To ensure that every child in Philadelphia can realize their dreams, we must advocate for equity — so all children have access to a well-funded and well-resourced public education system designed with the intent to achieve equality of opportunity for academic achievement through the requisite rigor required. I believe this is one way we can honor the enduring legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., especially in the spirit of reflection and action following MLK Day," said Streater.

At Feldman Shepherd, Streater represents individuals and families in all manner of catastrophic personal injury, medical malpractice and civil rights cases.

"Reggie's devotion to his law practice at our firm, while remaining committed to his important work for the Philadelphia Board of Education, is a testament to the special person he is," said Co-Managing Partner Alan M Feldman. "We are proud of his accomplishments for our clients and for the public education students of our great city."
