PHILADELPHIA, March 14, 2024 ~ Pontiac School District (PSD) in Michigan has taken a proactive approach to ensuring the safety of its students and faculty by deploying ZeroEyes' AI-based gun detection video analytics platform. This innovative solution, which holds the U.S. Department of Homeland Security SAFETY Act Designation, aims to protect against gun-related threats.
The district, which includes nine schools and offers work-based learning opportunities in various industries, is known for its dedication to providing a safe and secure educational environment. In addition to implementing a visitor check-in system, smart sensors, and video management software, PSD has now added ZeroEyes to its multi-layered security approach.
Dr. Kimberly Leverette, Interim Superintendent of Pontiac School District, expressed the district's commitment to creating a safe haven for students. "At Pontiac, we've dedicated significant resources to fostering opportunities for students, and we've witnessed the positive impact rippling throughout our community," she said. "Our mission is to cultivate our schools as safe havens, and with ZeroEyes, we are able to enhance security and safety both during and after school hours."

ZeroEyes' AI gun detection software integrates with existing digital security cameras and can identify guns in real-time. Once a gun is detected, images are immediately sent to the ZeroEyes Operations Center (ZOC), which is staffed 24/7/365 by trained U.S. military and law enforcement veterans. If the threat is deemed valid by these experts, alerts and actionable intelligence are dispatched within 3-5 seconds to local law enforcement and PSD staff.
According to Mike Lahiff, CEO of ZeroEyes, this deployment comes at a crucial time for Michigan as it has experienced an increase in gun-related violence in recent years. "Pontiac School District continues to show its dedication to safety and eye for innovation with its deployment of ZeroEyes," he stated.
With this cutting-edge technology, PSD is taking a proactive stance in protecting its students and faculty from potential gun-related threats. By incorporating ZeroEyes into their security measures, the district is demonstrating its commitment to creating a safe and secure learning environment for all.
