Pitching Held Its Side

Of course, strong hitting only seals wins when paired with solid pitching—and the Phillies got exactly that. Aaron Nola and Ranger Suárez combined to limit the Dodgers to one run over seven innings.  Suárez, in particular, overcame an early home run by Tommy Edman to carve out 15 scoreless outs.  Meanwhile, Clayton Kershaw's relief stint unraveled, giving up multiple runs including Schwarber's second long ball.

This Game 3 win does more than lengthen the series—it shifts the psychological balance. The Phillies' stars, long dormant, awakened just when their backs were against the wall.
