Wellsboro, PA ~ On the fifth day of the Great American Getaway RV tour, Governor Josh Shapiro made a series of stops in Clarion, Tioga, and Warren counties to promote small businesses and showcase Pennsylvania's outdoor recreation industry and experiences. The tour, which was launched on Monday, aims to highlight the state's new tourism brand: The Great American Getaway.

During his visit to Clarion County, Governor Shapiro was joined by Tourism Director Hind Karns for a tour of the Foxburg Country Club. This historic club, which is on the National Register of Historic Places, boasts the oldest continuously used golf course in the United States. The Governor also stopped by the Allegheny Grille for a meal along the picturesque Allegheny River.

Continuing his tour in Tioga County, Governor Shapiro and his family hiked the Rimrock Trail in the Allegheny National Forest before heading to Wellsboro. There, they visited several small businesses on Main Street including Arise Café, Pop's Culture Shoppe, and Penns Well Hotel. The Governor also took time to visit Leonard Harrison State Park and take in the breathtaking views of Pennsylvania's Grand Canyon.

A recent report released by the Pennsylvania Tourism Office showed that tourism generated $76 billion in economic impact and supported over 486,000 jobs in 2022 alone. In addition to promoting small businesses and main streets across the state, Governor Shapiro has proposed an $18 million investment in tourism to further boost the economy and attract more visitors.
