PARK CITY, Utah - PennZone -- Motherly has acquired Motherhood Understood, a maternal mental health platform, continuing our mission to provide a woman-centered and supportive community for mothers.

At Motherly we believe that mothers' stories matter and serve as an important mechanism for our community to learn, connect, and feel less isolated in motherhood. Motherly's acquisition of Motherhood Understood is part of a larger Motherly Collective strategy to serve as a user-generated platform for mothers to share their stories. All personal essays shared on Motherhood Understood can now be found at Motherly.

The mission of Motherhood Understood is to educate, connect, and prepare women for the emotional complications that sometimes accompany childbirth in the weeks, months, and even years that follow so that no woman has to suffer from a pregnancy or postpartum mental health illness in isolation.

"We are excited to acquire Motherhood Understood and continue our tradition of telling mothers' stories. We have been longtime fans of Motherhood Understood and their work in normalizing the postpartum experiences specifically related to maternal mental health.  At Motherly, we take motherhood seriously because when mothers thrive, families and communities thrive. Hearing and sharing stories is one of the most crucial ways that we can show up for our community. We are proud to welcome their community and stories to Motherly," said Jill Koziol, CEO and co-founder of Motherly.

"I am so excited and honored Motherly has chosen to acquire Motherhood Understood. I founded Motherhood Understood on the belief that when it comes to mental health, stories are a lifeline from one mother to another and the most effective way to destroy the stigma that still surrounds maternal mental health. Motherly is the perfect platform to continue the important and necessary work of sharing stories and providing resources, support and connection to women so they can thrive in motherhood," said Jen Schwartz, CEO and Founder of Motherhood Understood.
