BETHLEHEM, Pa. - PennZone -- The Metal Building Contractors & Erectors Association (MBCEA) 2025 Building of the Year competition is now open for entries. Member companies that served as construction manager, general contractor or subcontractor for buildings completed after January 1, 2024, may enter. Entries are due by February 26, 2025, and awards will be presented at MBCEA's 56th Annual Conference, May 7 – 9, in Charlotte, North Carolina. Details and entry information is available at www.mbceaawards.org.

"Each year this contest highlights the amazing work our members do," said Sasha Demyan, MBCEA Executive Director. "Last year we had the highest number of entrants ever. As our members continue to work on and produce so many impressive metal buildings, we expect an even greater number of entries this year."

Each member company may submit up to two projects. All submissions will be reviewed by a panel of industry judges based on the following criteria: aesthetics, unusual or interesting features, quality/safety, AC478 accreditation, complexity and green building elements. Categories for submission are:
  • Agricultural (commodity storage, farm structures)
  • Manufacturing (industrial or manufacturing operations, production, warehousing, equipment storage)
  • Commercial (retail stores, warehousing/storage, hangars, freight terminals, offices/banks, commercial garages/service stations, mini-storage/self-storage)
  • Community (recreational, educational, hospital/health, houses of worship, government, transportation, residential, correctional facilities)
  • Hybrid (buildings without a rigid frame, re-roof, wall cladding)

An overall Building of the Year award will be presented, and each entry has the potential for category-specific awards. Additionally, all entries will be automatically entered into the Metal Construction News Project Excellence Awards. For additional information, visit https://www.mbceaawards.org/.
