KenCCID and Sharing Excess are partnering to deliver a free food pop-up with fresh produce and snacks for the Northeast Philadelphia community on Wednesday, March 29. Anyone with food security issues is welcome.
PHILADELPHIA - PennZone -- KenCCID (Kensington Community Corporation for Individual Dignity) and Sharing Excess will be co-hosting a free food pop-up from 1:30 PM to 3:00 PM on Wednesday, March 29, 2023. The pop-up event will be held in the parking lot of KenCCID's headquarters at 9350 Ashton Road in Northeast Philadelphia. All residents of the greater Philadelphia area who may be experiencing food security issues, or who have neighbors or friends with food security issues, are welcome to pick up free fresh produce, snacks, and more.
KenCCID (http://www.kenccid.org) provides community homes for Individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities across Northeast Philadelphia. KenCCID's mission is to promote dignity and choice to empower Individuals with intellectual and developmental Disabilities to reach their full potential. "We are so excited to partner with Sharing Excess and to support the good work that they do in our communities," said Maku Warrakah-Ali, CEO of KenCCID. "I am sure that this event will do a great deal to help alleviate hunger in our area."

Sharing Excess (https://sharingexcess.com/) delivers surplus food to communities in need.
40% of all food produced in the US goes to waste every year, while over 40 million people experience food insecurity. The mission of Sharing Excess is to bridge the gap between excess and scarcity by partnering with grocery stores, restaurants, wholesalers, and farmers to deliver surplus food to a network of nonprofits, food banks, and community organizations to alleviate local food insecurity.
KenCCID will be hosting this event in a parking lot adjacent to its office. KenCCID will be providing music and hosting a raffle for a $100 Amazon gift card. Attendees who are interested in learning more about job opportunities at KenCCID can also receive information and talk with recruiters.
