HOUSTON, Aug. 20, 2025 ~ Grundfos, a leading Danish company in advanced water solutions, has recently finalized the acquisition of Newterra, a water and wastewater treatment solutions company based in Pittsburgh. This move highlights Grundfos' dedication to expanding its capabilities in the water treatment and wastewater industry, as well as its strategic goal to increase its presence in the United States and Canadian markets.

According to Inge Delobelle, Executive Vice President and Divisional CEO of Grundfos' Industry division, the addition of Newterra is a significant step towards achieving their ambition of becoming a global leader in water treatment. Delobelle stated that this acquisition will enhance their ability to provide efficient and scalable water treatment systems to customers not only in the US but also around the world. With Newterra now part of Grundfos, they can offer a more comprehensive portfolio of energy- and water-efficient solutions to help customers treat, reduce, and reuse water effectively.

Grundfos' revenue exceeded USD five billion in 2024, and with the inclusion of Newterra, their water treatment business will have over 1,500 highly skilled employees across Europe and North America. Their revenues are expected to surpass USD 350 million. Delobelle emphasized that building a strong water treatment business is crucial in today's world where responsible management of water resources is more critical than ever.

The acquisition of Newterra is just one of several strategic acquisitions made by Grundfos since 2020 to establish a robust water treatment platform. The company plans to continue strengthening this business segment further. Additionally, they aim to double their US business by 2030 and have recently announced plans for a new production plant in Brookshire, Texas.

Newterra was previously owned by Frontenac, a private equity firm based in Chicago. The terms of the acquisition were not disclosed by Grundfos.

Delobelle expressed excitement about welcoming Newterra's dedicated employees who share their passion for innovation and customer focus. She believes that together, they can create sustainable solutions to the world's water and climate challenges. With this acquisition, Grundfos is well-positioned to continue its growth and make a significant impact in the water treatment industry.
