Harrisburg, PA ~ Pennsylvanians now have a direct line to Governor Josh Shapiro and his Administration with the launch of a new two-way communication system. The system, made possible through Community, an SMS engagement platform, allows citizens to text 717-788-8990 to connect with the Governor and his Administration.
Governor Shapiro announced the phone number on social media today, encouraging Pennsylvanians to contact him directly. He believes meeting people where they are is an important part of engaging with citizens in every community across the Commonwealth.
"Whether I'm visiting small businesses in Scranton, making a major announcement in Erie, or coming to your area to meet with you and your neighbors – I want to share it with you directly," said Governor Shapiro. "To best serve the people of Pennsylvania, we have to meet people where they are – and do it effectively and efficiently."

The Governor also noted that no matter how citizens choose to access government, they should know they will get help. He wants citizens to share their thoughts on what his Administration can help with and their stories.
The Community platform ensures text messages will be delivered directly without relying on an algorithm or selling user data. In April, Governor Shapiro signed an Executive Order establishing the Commonwealth Office of Digital Experience (CODE PA) which aims to improve online services for Pennsylvanians and streamline their interactions with the Commonwealth online.
With this new resource, Pennsylvanians can ensure there is no wrong door when it comes to connecting with and accessing government services.
