M Lab 2025 M Film Lab
HOLLYWOOD, Calif. - PennZone -- Hollywood, California — The M Film Lab is proud to announce the launch of its highly anticipated Screenwriting Lab, titled Tales of Identity & Imagination, in partnership with popular screenwriting platform, Open Screenplay. This innovative program invites writers from all backgrounds to submit compelling short film screenplays that explore themes of identity, belonging, and the experiences of minorities, immigrants, and underrepresented communities.

The M Film Lab has consistently been a champion of diverse narratives, amplifying authentic voices that often go unheard. With a mission to challenge perspectives and foster empathy through storytelling, the Spring 2025 Lab aims to uncover fresh and powerful narratives that shed light on minority experiences in society.

About the Spring 2025 Lab:
  • Lab Format:  Lab is held virtually via www.openscreenplay.com
  • Participants: The program will select six exceptional writers who will receive one-on-one mentorship from six experienced industry professionals
  • Production Opportunity: At the conclusion of the lab, one winning screenplay will be optioned for production with an option fee of USD $1,500.

Submission Guidelines:
  • Format: Short Film Screenplay (12-15 pages)
  • Theme: Screenplays must explore themes tied to the experiences of minorities, immigrants, or underrepresented groups in society. Writers are encouraged to be bold, imaginative, and impactful in their storytelling.
  • Deadline: Submissions must be received by May 16, 2025.
  • Entry Fee: Free
