MERRITT ISLAND, Fla., Dec. 18, 2024 ~ Kennedy Space Center, FL - Crayola, Space4All, and Blue Origin's nonprofit Club for the Future have joined forces to recognize and honor exceptional educators while promoting the importance of creativity and innovation in space. The collaboration was announced at a press conference held at Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex.
The new initiative, called Creativity Launches the Future, aims to inspire students to pursue careers in space by highlighting the role of creativity in space exploration. Parents and community members are invited to nominate outstanding educators for a chance to win a VIP trip to Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex. This experience will not only increase their knowledge of space but also encourage them to inspire their students about the possibilities of space.
To support and engage educators and students across the country, Crayola and Space4All have created new educational resources that are available online throughout the campaign. These hands-on activities will help students envision themselves in space-related careers and learn about the incredible innovations that have come out of the space program.

Cheri Sterman, senior director of education at Crayola, emphasized the importance of creativity as a life skill that helps children reach their full potential regardless of their chosen career path. "This partnership highlights our shared mission to show how creativity drives space exploration and innovation," she said. "Everyone learns best from hands-on experiences, so this opportunity for teachers to have an in-person immersion on the Space Coast will expand their knowledge and confidence in teaching about space."
Former NASA astronaut Leland Melvin, who serves as an ambassador for Space4All, shared his personal connection to education and its impact on his own career. "Both of my parents were middle-school teachers, and they inspired me to dream big and believe in myself," he said. "Now, I'm excited for the chance to say thank you to all the outstanding teachers and be part of inspiring them and their students to reach for the stars because space is for all."
Twelve educators will be randomly selected from the nominees and announced during Crayola's Creativity Week in early 2025. The winners will have the opportunity to tour Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex and Blue Origin's New Glenn rocket factory. They will also receive space-themed lessons for their classrooms and may even witness a rocket launch.
