CHEK TV completes new Master Control Room with Wohler's new iVAM1-1 16 channel audio/video monitor
SAN FRANCISCO - PennZone -- When employee owned local Vancouver station CHEK TV recently upgraded their Master control facility, they chose Wohler's new iVAM1-1 as their in-rack monitoring solution.
As CHEK TV's Senior Engineering Technician Kory Andersen states "The touch screen interface is very user friendly and allows us to quickly select 6 discrete channels to get a down-mix of our 5.1 audio. Coupled with the ability to switch between audio and video monitoring at the touch of a button and the option of adding additional I/O at a later date as needed, including IP signals, the iVAM1-1 delivers exactly what we needed at an extremely competitive price."

A critical component of the upgrade was for CHEK TV to migrate to 5.1 audio and provide the means to allow their technicians the ability to both monitor 5.1 and to also create a stereo downmix. The addition of new Harmonic encoders allowed CHEK-TV to broadcast in 5.1, and the new iVAM1-1 was chosen as their ideal monitoring solution prior to encoding. Not only does the iVAM1-1 have the ability to monitor 5.1 and create a stereo downmix, it also has a dedicated video display which allows the operator to switch between audio and video for a complete monitoring solution. Additionally, optional features such as SMPTE 2110 and SMPTE 2022 allow CHEK-TV to future-proof their investment.
"CHEK-TV needed a powerful A/V monitoring tool that is easy for operators to use, feature rich, future proof and reasonably priced," says Ian Caldwell, Regional Sales Manager for Wohler. "The iVAM1-1 checked all the boxes."
