PITTSBURGH, Oct. 1, 2024 ~ MolecuLight Inc., a leading global provider of fluorescence imaging technology for real-time detection of harmful bacteria and digital wound measurement, has announced the latest addition to their flagship wound imaging device, the MolecuLightDX™. The device now has the capability to automatically measure wound depth, providing clinicians with a complete wound measurement solution.
With this new feature, clinicians can digitally measure wound area, length, width, and depth with just one image capture. This eliminates the need for calibration stickers and manual depth measurements, streamlining the process and allowing for a higher degree of precision. The Auto Depth feature is made possible through proprietary optics and software developed by MolecuLight.
The addition of Auto Depth will have a positive impact on clinical workflow as it reduces the time spent on documentation and allows clinicians to focus more on patient care. This exciting new feature will be showcased at the upcoming SAWC Fall 2024 conference, where MolecuLight will also present a poster summarizing the accuracy and reproducibility validation testing.

According to CEO Anil Amlani, providing customers with a standardized and easily implementable digital wound measurement solution is a top priority for MolecuLight. The company is thrilled to launch the Auto Depth feature as it will significantly impact clinical workflow and documentation. With just one image capture, wounds can be efficiently measured while obtaining superior accuracy and reliability. For EHR integrated customers, the measured Auto Depth is automatically written to the patient record, further reducing the documentation burden for wound care clinicians.
The traditional method of measuring wound depth using a probe and ruler often results in inaccurate measurements with high variability among different clinicians. This can lead to overestimation of wound depth. However, MolecuLight's Auto Depth feature aims to standardize wound measurement across multiple providers.
Extensive testing and validation have been conducted to ensure exceptional accuracy and reliability in real clinical environments on actual patient wounds. With the launch of the Auto Depth feature, MolecuLight continues to demonstrate its commitment to providing innovative solutions for wound care management.
