The public is invited to learn about fairness and bias in healthcare at this year's Community Medical Ethics Project event to be held at Thiel College on October 24, 2019.

GREENVILLE, Pa. - PennZone -- A medical ethicist from Columbus, Ohio, will speak about fairness and bias in healthcare at this year's Community Medical Ethics Project event to be held in Thiel College's Lutheran Heritage Room of the Howard Miller Student Center at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 24.

The event will explore fairness in public health and how bias influences the delivery of healthcare. The event is free and open to the public.

The speaker, Amy M. VanDyke, Ph.D., a system ethicist at the Mount Carmel Health System in Columbus, will explore the ethical framework that supports decision-making in public health care, and how bias forms and how it can influence systems of public health. VanDyke will also provide participants with tools to recognize and challenge personal or systemic bias in public health campaigns and initiatives.
