Structural Monitoring Solutions (SMS) introduces continuous real-time monitoring technology, led by founder Terry Tamutus, a pioneer with 32+ years in fiber-optic structural sensing.

DOYLESTOWN, Pa. - PennZone -- Structural Monitoring Solutions (SMS), a U.S. engineering company specializing in real-time structural intelligence, announced the launch and expansion of its fiber-optic monitoring initiative for bridges, pipelines, post-tensioned structures, and critical infrastructure assets.

Traditional inspections offer only a visual snapshot in time. SMS replaces snapshots with continuous awareness.

Using distributed fiber-optic sensing and acoustic monitoring, SMS installs monitoring networks inside the structure. The system detects internal stress, wire-break activity, deformation, and temperature changes in real time. This allows infrastructure owners to take action before visible damage appears and prevents unexpected shutdowns.

SMS was founded by engineer Terry Tamutus, a pioneer with more than 32 years of experience applying fiber-optic structural monitoring across the United States. Long before smart infrastructure became an industry trend, Terry implemented some of the earliest real-time monitoring deployments on post-tensioned bridges and high-risk assets.

A structure always tells you what is happening. The real question is whether anyone is listening, said Terry Tamutus, Founder of SMS.

The goal of SMS is to turn infrastructure from a liability into a source of predictive data, helping owners shift from reactive maintenance to proactive decision making.
