WEST CHESTER, Pa. - PennZone -- West Chester Elks Lodge Exalted Ruler Larry Geldof announced that the local 2022 Hoop Shoot Competition will be cancelled. Low pre-registration and social gathering concerns prompted the decision.  Other Elks Lodges have made similar decisions.

The event was originally scheduled for January 22, 2022 from 9:00 am until 11:30 am at the Henderson High School Gym located at 400 Montgomery Avenue, West Chester, PA, 19380.  This was to be a FREE event for children under age 14.

Winners would have gone on to the Hoop Shoot Regional Finals held at the Wells Fargo Center.  Those winners compete in the State Championships held at Penn State University Main Campus.

Last year, 3 competitors from the West Chester Lodge competed in the State level round.

What makes this cancellation particularly impactful is the fact that the Elks National Organization will make 2022 the Hoop Shoot Competition's 50th year anniversary.

Elks Lodges bring so much more to their communities than just a building, golf course or pool. They are places where neighbors come together, families share meals, and children grow up.

Elks invest in their communities through programs that help children grow up healthy and drug-free, meet the needs of today's veterans, and improve the quality of life.
