A cognitively considerate storytelling platform designed to reduce isolation after brain injury.
ERIE, Pa. - PennZone -- Hope Survives launches The Hope Collective, a curated publication centering lived experience after brain injury.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), more than 214,000 people in the United States were hospitalized for traumatic brain injuries in a single recent year, and brain injury remains a leading cause of injury-related death and disability nationwide. Despite its prevalence, many individuals and families report feeling isolated and under-supported once immediate medical care ends.
Founded by Cristabelle Braden and formally established as a nonprofit in partnership with Jasmine Balignasay-Chavez, Hope Survives was created to address a critical gap in brain injury recovery support through accessible, community-based programming rooted in lived experience and thoughtful leadership.

The Hope Collective expands that mission by creating a structured and cognitively considerate space for storytelling. Contributors may choose to free-write or respond to guided reflection questions about their experiences, challenges, support systems, and personal insights. Each writer decides what feels appropriate to share. Submissions are reviewed for clarity and accessibility.
The publication launches with four sections:
Everyday Support - Practical tools & reflections for navigating daily life.
Hope for the Journey - Personal stories that acknowledge both challenge and growth.
Community Stories - Guided Q&A features centered on lived experience.
Dear Reader - Letters of encouragement written with care.
"Lived experience deserves space, and every voice should be valued," said Cristabelle Braden, Founder and Executive Director of Hope Survives. "The Hope Collective was created to honor the complexity of life after brain injury and to make room for honest reflection."

"The impact of brain injury extends far beyond hospital discharge," said Amanda Allemang, Member of the Board of Directors for Hope Survives. "Community-based, accessible support plays a critical role in long-term wellbeing. The Hope Collective strengthens that continuum by elevating lived experience in a thoughtful and structured way."
In addition to The Hope Collective, Hope Survives offers virtual community, educational resources, and creative workshops designed to support individuals and families navigating life after brain injury. While faith-rooted, the organization's programs and publications are welcoming to people across belief systems.
