DALLAS & DENTON, Texas - PennZone -- In observance of Black History Month, Denton County Friends Of The Family (DCFOF) will host its 5th Annual 'Evening of Raised Awareness Event' featuring Author, Philanthropist, and Entrepreneur, as Keynote Speaker.

Mel Jackson, as seen on Fox 4 News (KDFW) and ABC 8 (WFAA), will provide a powerful presentation that will heal, inspire, and transform attendees who have gone through issues of domestic violence.

Mel Jackson is a passionate, inspirational speaker and the writer of the Self Care Book titled 'Blessings In Broken Places, from Abandonment to Abundance' which will be available during the event.

The book is a must-read that touches on Abuse, Abandonment, Loss, Pain, Perception, Love, and most of all, Forgiveness. 'Blessings In Broken Places, from Abandonment to Abundance' is also available for purchase via Amazon.com as well as her company website at https://melinc.org/books/

The event will be held on February 4, 2022, at the Denton Campus Theatre, located at 214 W. Hickory St., Denton, TX 76201. A 501 (c) (3) Non-profit Corporation which she launched in 2014., Executive Director of The Josh Howard Foundation, and Co-Owner of Prime-Time Hair. Mel Jackson holds a degree in Business Management with a minor in Accounting from Dallas Christian University. With a love for the youth, and a desire to advance the communities around her, Mel focuses a large part of her community involvement on the daily task of managing a successful after school/at-risk and summer feeding program, domestic violence advocacy, organizing community events, speaking engagements, partnerships, and business development amongst other things.
