PennZone -- American University of Antigua College of Medicine (AUA) is proud to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Carson-Newman University, Jefferson City, TN, to offer qualified Carson-Newman graduates an expedited pathway to medical school.
"We are looking forward to this relationship between American University of Antigua College of Medicine and Carson-Newman University—especially the opportunities it will provide our students who desire to help and serve others through medicine," said Steve Karr, PhD, Director of Health Pre-Professions for Carson-Newman.
Under the terms of the agreement, qualified graduates of Carson-Newman are eligible for advanced admissions priority, an expedited application review, and grants/scholarships for those that attend AUA for their medical education. Those interested in AUA will need to meet certain academic thresholds during their Carson-Newman education for eligibility.
Qualified Carson-Newman graduates who choose AUA will be eligible for a Preferred Program Grant, in addition to any scholarships earned at AUA.

"In 2020-2021 alone, tens of thousands of potential medical students in the United States were denied entry to United States medical schools and refused the chance to pursue their dreams of practicing medicine," said Gerald J. Wargo, Jr., Vice President of Enrollment Management. "Our new relationship with Carson-Newman will create a pathway for aspiring physicians to attend medical school at AUA, become physicians, and enjoy fruitful careers in medicine."
